Pillars (in production)

In Haiti, where abortion is illegal, criminalized, and taboo, a common and cheap abortion method uses herbs and over-the-counter medications to terminate pregnancy. An anonymous woman, known as Nadia, tells the story of undergoing this risky abortion method with the help of her friend Peter. This feature-length documentary film explores uncomfortable, conflicting truths at the heart of womanhood in a country that calls its women poto mitan, the pillars that hold society together.
