In the summer of 2017, I began following Eyekonz Sports League, a field hockey and lacrosse league in North Philadelphia that aims to pipeline young girls of color into non-traditional sports. In a matter of weeks, the story became much more complicated – a lost scholarship, a class action lawsuit, and a coach hellbent on guiding her athletes to success.
