Really Good Shares

Really Good Shares

I produced, sound designed and mixed Really Good Shares for iHeartMedia in 2021 and 2022 alongside Julian Weller and host A.J. Daulerio. Several episodes feature covers recorded by Swamp Dogg. All illustrations are by Edith Zimmerman. Really Good Shares was nominated for an Ambie for “Best Wellness or Relationships Podcast” in 2022.

I like to describe this project as “a podcast for ****-ups” that explores what happens after you think your life is totally over. I have included some of my favorite episodes from season one below.

A Really Bad Day

Author James Frey walks us through the ashes of A Million Little Pieces, Oprah’s concerned phone call, and wisdom from the Hells Angels, in the search for the truth.

It’s Okay If You’re Not Ready

Is this your first New Year’s Eve sober? Amazing! Nice job! But…you may feel lousy, too. This is an episode dedicated to you. Keep going–it gets better. Plus, we have Swamp Dogg doing Auld Lang Syne.

I sound designed this essay that A.J. wrote for The Small Bow in a way that sounds sweetly dismal.

The Lift Up

What is strength anyway? How do you be new? Today we talk with journalist and strong person Casey Johnston about some of the hang-ups many of us have about entering a gym for the first time. Plus, she gives me advice about one of the most mortifying moments of my life.

This episode features one of the funniest anecdotes about farting at an inappropriate time that I’ve ever heard. A.J. didn’t want to use fart sound effects, so I went with an impressionistic treatment full of jazz instruments to suggest flatulence.

Big Bird Nods Out

Dave from Dopey regales us with a twisted tale of depravity and redemption, where our hairy-legged heroin hero dresses as Big Bird for a children’s birthday party and proceeds to almost ruin it. But that's all behind him now.

Have you ever had to convey the feeling of a clean, quiet suburban home through audio? I have.
